Frequently Asked Questions
- What do I need to bring?
- Four words: swim suit and towel. A few words on the suit. Ladies if its gonna be a two piece, make sure it fits or you might loose it. Might we add that Shubie's do sell some amazing surf apparel and board shorts in the retail area. Fellas, I wouldn't borrow shorts unless they are your size cause you will definitely loose them if they don't fit properly.
- So what is a "Shubie"?
- Technically, it’s a “poser”. We called our place Shubie’s Wavehouse because we know we aren’t surfers; most true Texans aren't. There is, on the other hand, a lifetime worth of indoor/outdoor fun at Shubie’s Wavehouse where you don’t have to be a perfect surfer but you do have to have fun! Because flowboarding is a combination of wake boarding, snowboarding, and surfing, we invite everyone to give it at least one try. Who knows you might be better then you think!.
- Does it hurt?
- The beautiful part about flowboarding is that even if you fall, well, when you fall, you get more amp’d to get back on and make it. This will take ton of practice and when you get it you might just look like the girl in the video, well you won't "look like her" but you might ride as well as she does. Even though we take a real relaxed approach to the life that is summer, we do want everyone to be safe. Check out the videos in the gallery link to know what can and can’t be done at Shubie’s Wavehouse. If you think you have what it takes, we’ll see you there.
- How does it work?
- We utilize a sheet of water from a machine called the Flowrider, to perform extreme tricks without the risk of major injuries! This sport takes skill, patience and lots of practice. In the Gallery you will find a few videos on the FlowRider. Pay attention to the video about the how to's, it's kinda informative.
